Internal events workgroup

The workgroup’s aim is to create a sense of belonging among the Society’s members, to make it possible to meet new and interesting people, and to take some time out alongside demanding studies. It does that through entertainment events aimed at as many members as possible. Traditional examples are the spring and autumn picnics, the EAÜS Christmas party and MEDICINA. Besides those larger events, the workgroup also offers smaller monthly interludes — film or board game evenings, for instance. There are absolutely no limits here.

The workgroup is generally marked by an abundance of ideas, good teamwork, openness and the wish to keep the Society together.

Drugs Crash Course

The Drugs Crash Course (UCC for short) is a project aimed at preventing drug-related problems and raising awareness of the dangers of drugs among young people. The project sits with the Internal Events workgroup.

UCC classes cover alcohol, e-cigarettes, cigarettes, nicotine pouches and various drugs. They discuss their effects and harms and, preventively, how to get help — because in Estonia most drug-related deaths happen because people are afraid to call for help. Major events

The EAÜS Christmas party

Christmas is a time to be with family and to do something good and enjoyable. The Society’s Christmas party is exactly that for the wider Society family — homely and warm. It has everything traditional, from gingerbread and Christmas roast to Father Christmas handing out presents to the good members. The party has traditionally had an entertainment programme too, with members’ own performances, quizzes and other cheering activities to take minds off the exam period for one evening.

Since Christmas is also a time for thanks, the Society’s Christmas party is the moment to look back at the past half-year and thank everyone who has worked to advance the Society’s values and work. The EAÜS award laureates are announced at the Christmas party.

Spring and autumn picnics

The Internal Events workgroup starts and ends its year by organising a good picnic. What could be better than gathering with friends at the Maarjamõisa manor house, enjoying autumn or spring weather, grilling, eating, talking and discovering a few surprises the workgroup has prepared?

The picnics are also where you find out who has been elected to the new board, and where the previous one is seen off with thanks. Traditionally there are various team and individual competitions, bringing the Society’s new and old faces together to prepare for the new academic year or the exams ahead. The picnics traditionally take place in the garden of the Society’s own Maarjamõisa manor house.
